Our amazing investigation at Malvern Manor with Journey into the Haunted and Twin Flames Paranormal Research August 2025

Yep - that’s us sitting around a ouija board with a demon doll watching over us. Not sure what we were thinking (possibly weren’t) but Josh allowed us….so with a ton of caution, a pinch of madness and a WHOLE lot of ‘let’s get down to business’ we forged ahead. Here’s how things went……..

August is a GREAT time in the Midwest. Start of Spooky Season, crisp fall air (although in some cases it’s still 97 with about 80% humidity which is EXACTLY what it was when we were there - add onto that the fires in Colorado made it all but unbearable to be outside) all the pumpkin things. To be honest right off the bat - this weekend was originally, well….a weekend. Friday night investigation then a Saturday night investigation. That changed when the ‘Caretaker’ of Villisca changed. We could no longer support the new owners so we bailed on that one and decided to just focus on Malvern (who held an AMAZING fundraiser for said ‘old’ Caretaker, Johnny Houser just a week before) We can be a little picky with locations and who we choose to support and we stand by that decision. We’ve met Johnny and know enough to stand by HIM (and Church of course) 1000000%.

Anywhooooo, back to what you all want to hear about. We had been in talks with Josh weeks leading up to this after our event with Journey into the Haunted October 2024 where we met the said infamous doll. Michelle really wanted to try and communicate with whatever little spirit was calling the doll home. Mind you, this is the same doll that was so pissed off to be in a glass case protected by Holy Water and a Crucifix blessed by the Vatican that she BROKE HER LEGS trying to get out. Yeah…so….there’s that.

So Josh gave us the go ahead to get the pretty girl out and try to do some communication to see if we could get whatever was inside to talk to us. Now we all know there is ALOT of back and forth argument on if objects can be haunted or possessed. We’ll leave that up to you to decide, but what we can tell you is that we BOTH have had enough things happen with objects that we are pretty firm believers in spirit attachment to inanimate objects. Now if they are all “DEMONS” we’ll say a big NO. Not even maybe .0005%

Josh had her out for us when we got there, and we unloaded LOTS of gear and started to strategize a bit for the night. We were all standing around the main room when an empty can of Evergy Drink decided to throw itself off the table. The can was sitting right next to the doll case. That seemed like a great time to go get some dinner, so we strolled across the street to the Cafe. (Pretty sure the local crowd was very skeptical of our sketch little group…several parents there for a party were trying very hard to heard their little children away from the ‘weird people’ - and it was BUSY!) Food in bellies and LOTS of coffee for some people (Ahem - Marcus and Sarah) We walked back and got ready for the evening. Of course we had to take a group pic (minus our beloved Phil A, but we made do)

Lets Get This Party Started…..

Once we settled back into the Manor for the night, Phil & Marcus went off to start placing cameras and recorders in different areas. The girls buckled in for a little spirit sesh with our favorite doll. Michelle protected the board, gave us the low down on what she was planning and we all reached in for the planchette.

After several attempts to get said spirit to converse and literally the ONLY thing happening was the planchette going straight to NO multiple times, and even one trip to GOOD-BYE (rude) we decided that whatever was around was not keen on communicating this way. The best part of the session was towards the end, after we kept really badgering the heck out of someone to talk to us, the planchette spelled out F and then O.

“F and O….what the heck does that mean”

“I don’t know what words start with FO??”

“Found? Fool? Four? Foot?”

By that time the boys were back and we decided to start to wander the house. One of the new pieces of equipment that we had going was the GhostTube SEER.

We had never seen this app work in person, so it was quite interesting to see what it could do. When we just let it run while asking questions using a SpiritBox, the app popped in with a few interesting pictures.

Little unsettling – we figure the first couple are trying to tell us about The One. The One is the ‘in charge’ spirit at Malvern (or so it thinks) The thought is that it likes to control the other spirits in the building. Which is why it can become so hot/cold at Malvern really quickly – like turning a faucet off. We have some thoughts on who The One is. And to honest, the thoughts have shifted lately (you’ll have to tune into our next podcast at the end of September for more info on Malvern and our feelings and dive deep into our experiences and our talks with Josh, the caretaker of the Manor…) Our thoughts are kinda justified with the way those pictures show a person in a person….like a box in a box. Something showing itself as one thing, but inside is something else. Intrigued? PODCAST. The last one we asked if they could see us….looks like they could….

Well….that’s nowhere in Malvern!

The other pictures we got in the Attic. And here’s where things get to that “Put it in your back pocket” (A Put it in Your Back Pocket Moment is one of those things that happen during an investigation that just feels a little too weird but doesn’t make a bit of sense. So…you put it in your back pocket for the time being, and maybe it makes sense later.

After we went to different areas, we felt like we were being led around in a blind circle. So our next stop was the attic. If anyone has been to Malvern ya’ll know about those steps to go up to the Attic. Let’s just say going up isn’t half as bad as coming down. We set up our usual….cat balls, REM Pods, Music Boxes all the fun toys. And Phil put his phone out with the Seer App running.

We started asking questions, getting little blips here and there but nothing crazy. So we asked very point blank “WHERE ARE YOU?” That’s when the pictures started coming in.

The first one, a room with one big ass coffin. Yep. Coffin. Okay well, there’s no rooms with coffins in them at Malvern so what the hell does that mean? Do they mean they’re dead? So we asked “DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE DEAD?”

This one was well….really strange. It was a room filled with naked female mannequins. Well then. Absolutely no clue, we all tried to wrestle it into an explanation but all of us came up blank…and frustrated. Having not much else happen we **carefully** descended the staircase of death to the main floor.

Hank and the Nightly Rounds

Stopping for a quick break and discussing the evening (along with so many other things) We decided to try to go say hi to Hank. Hank is a lifer at Malvern. He was a resident there when it was a ‘nursing home’ and basically was kinda a grumpy pants. He doesn’t care for women, hates kids and really gets rather pissy if you mess with his clothes. (Yep there are still clothes in his dresser in his room) Hank always makes an appearance, even if it’s a brief one. Last time someone pretty stupidly challenged him and took one of his shirts and put it on. Long story short she had to be taken out of the building and cleansed because she was a wreck in about 4 minutes. She put the shirt back.

If you have never been to Malvern – the rooms are small. Hank’s room is no different. Maybe like a 10x10 room with a small closet and a window. Unfortunately by that time a band was playing next door and so noise contamination was a thing we were dealing with. Hank was pretty quiet – and considering Phil had dreamed of Hank prior to coming to the Manor we thought maybe he would really be talkative. (Could it have been us poking the hornets nest a bit with our Doll Friend that made everything so quiet?)

But then we turned on the SpiritChat on Renay’s laptop, hooked up to a small external speaker. What we listened to next was one of the longest and more interesting exchanges we have ever heard. (We may have video coming of the communication – Phil is checking his cameras and downloading as we speak)

What started it off was a very strained voice that sounded like it was in pain saying Help. Thinking it was someone asking for help we asked more questions. But it clearly was not. What we listened to was like a record player playing back a moment in time. A conversation between at first a patient and a nurse, then the doctor and the nurse. Talking about medications, time for bed and causing trouble.

There have been people that think the man that ran the nursing facility was not a nice person. That some pretty bad things happened to the patients in his care. The playback of that moment in time left us all a little stunned and unsure what to think we just heard. Wish we would have documented it better, written it down. We’ll do better going forward. Sarah and Marcus SWORE they saw a figure in the hallway, and we heard what sounded like squeaking wheels….like someone walking a medicine cart doing rounds.

Our last stop was to check in on Rose. But by then the house had become exceptionally quiet. Everything had just stopped. And it was getting late. Phil & Renay started packing up as they were heading back to their hotel to get on the road home to Texas.

The rest of us got ready to bunk down for the night, getting cots and air mattresses ready. This was one of the first times that we had slept AT a location like this. We’ve stayed at the Bullock, the Franklin, the Palmer…etc etc – but never actually in the location. It’s a little unnerving, and while nothing happened it’s like your mind truly doesn’t shut down. You’re just waiting for something to happen.

Remember that ‘Back Pocket’ moment?

We awoke the next day to start the pack up process, and Josh returned before we left. We filled him in on our Doll friend, he decided to show us a mirror now in his possession – which is a WHOLE other story…picture just to prove it was there in somehow he manages to trick someone into taking that thing home with them. And of course the Shit Tickets.

But what happened next – there’s no way to describe it. Remember – Back Pocket.

We were asking in general about different areas of the house and talked about the basement that we briefly stepped into. (Spiders. BIG SPIDERS) When Josh says…

“Well you know I rent a small area of the building to the lady that owns the funeral home in town”

WHAT?

“Yeah the door that’s locked down the hallway – she stores some things in there”

WHAT THINGS?

“Oh there’s some coffins, which is creepy I think some are kids coffins”

WHAT THE F*CK (As we all are looking at each other mouths hanging open) Are you serious????

“Uh Huh and”…in typical Josh fashion he giggles…”there’s some old Playboys in there too”

The statement that we all about SHIT ourselves is being modest. Talking 5000 miles an hour we all were trying to tell him about what we were shown in the attic on the Ghost Seer App. We texted Phil, who was driving and told him to send those pictures to Josh when he could. Suffice to say we were absolutely FLOORED and if Josh hadn’t had people coming to the Manor we would have gone in to see where our little spirit friend had been hiding all night.

So that’s it – that’s our story and we’re gonna stick to it. Malvern never ever disappoints and is very quickly becoming a place that we will always plan at least a 2 time stop every year – probably more in 2026. And we still have one more opportunity to go in 2025, right back with the group we had there. Stay Spooky GWP Fam – we love ya!!
